You may have guessed from my previous posts that I’m a shameless sweet tooth and this is one of my favourite dessert inspired recipes. Chocolate and orange, in my opinion, is a match made in heaven. But then chocolate and anything is pretty fucking magical as far as I’m concerned so it had a damn good chance of being a winner. And chocolate for breakfast? Hell I’m sold!

This brew has it all – it’s sweet, creamy and zingy with the taste and texture of a dessert to please your palate and a kick arse nutritional load to make your body just as happy.I’ve suggested using all frozen ingredients for a super thick and creamy consistency but if you’re more of a sip and slurp kinda smoothie criminal then feel free to use fresh.

Get this stuff

120 grams frozen orange including skin (approx 1 small orange)

100 grams frozen zucchini

80-100 grams frozen spinach – I buy frozen spinach portions

30 grams/ 1 portion clean protein powder or 1 raw egg

1-2 T cacao powder

1T chia seeds

1 T psyllium powder (optional, but good to thicken and for fibre)

1t maca (optional)

1 medjool date or 2 small dates, stevia, rice malt syrup, maple syrup to sweeten

¼ C cashew or almond milk

¼ C coconut water

Pinch of cinnamon

6-12 ice cubes and water if required to adjust consistency

Optional - coconut milk or cream for an extra creamy taste

Topping suggestions: cacao nibs, coconut flakes, chopped nuts, home made granola, buckinis

Do this with it

Erm, well this is probably stating the obvious but shove it all in the blender, hit high speed on that mo’fo and blitz baby blitz.

Once it’s thick, smooth and creamy pour it into a bowl or glass, finish with your choice of toppings if that’s how you want to roll and you’re good to go.
